We have developed a process to convert audio into a new mp3 format that is compressed 88 times for a mono 28k stream, and 44 times for a 56k stream. These files can be streamed using http without the use of any server software. It requires a simple server configuration, to allow the file to be executed.
These changes will have no effect on you except that your 28k and 56k audio files will sound much better! Dream Stream™ 56k stream is sonically equivalent to AM Radio Broadcast!!!
After countless tests by a group of highly qualified experts we made a couple of amazing discoveries:
1. We found that our mp3 streams only required a 1.5 second request of 2% of our CPU.
2. The same stream request through our real server required a 5 second request of 3.3% of our CPU.
This means that using the real server has a far greater draw on the servers processing power for a much longer time. Our countless tests determined that our method of http streaming uses 83% less processing power to function.
This allows us to have a far greater amount of streams occurring at once than even the best server offered by the folks at Real Media. We will continue to pass these savings on to our customers!
Also, after analyzing the audio that we were creating with our new conversion process, we discovered that the sonic quality is far better.
Frequency response of our 28k stream is about the same, but phase alignment shows a significant improvement. We found about a 40% improvement on average in phase coherency!
Frequency response of our 56k stream is much better than the equivalent real audio file and a gain of about 30% improvement in phase coherency.
