It is very easy to use the PublishSongs.Com Search Engine. Once you get use to it, you'll find that there is nothing like it anywhere on the internet. You can look for songs by anything that exists on the Song's Page with the exception of lyrics. The songs lyrics exist on the page as an image and cannot be indexed by anything. This is done to protect the writers' lyrics from outside searching mechanisms.
Each song page has one of the following keywords from each of the following categories assigned to it's searchable information. These are the actual keywords that must be used when searching for songs.
Genre:
rock, southern rock, country, pop, blues, contemporary christian, rhythm and blues, (please note that R & B must be spelled out) adult contemporary, metal, broadway, rap, hip hop, jazz, gospel, classical, electronica, punk, funk, dance, retro, bluegrass, southern gospel, latin, swing, americana, alternative
Tempo:
fast, medium or slow
Emotion:
happy, sad or mad
Gender:
male or female (if you do not select male or female, it will return songs that can be done by either male or female)
Personality:
positive or negative
Texture/Weight:
soft, hard, heavy or light
Status:
Published or Unpublished
Date Of Submission:
jun00 (this represents June of 2000. Use the first three letters of the month followed immediately by the last two digits of the year)
And whether or not it has a Parental Advisory.
You can run a search that's not very specific, like: country
Or you can be very specific:
+country, +slow, +sad, +male, +negative, +soft, +unpublished
Use + For Multiple Word Searches
Put a plus sign (+) in front of each search word and the PublishSongs.Com Search Engine will only return searches that include that word. Example search:
+country, +unpublished ~ This example will bring you all of the unpublished country songs!
Use - to Exclude Words
Put a minus sign (-) in front of a search word and the PublishSongs.Com Search Engine will make sure that NONE of the documents it returns contain the word. Example search:
country, -Todd -Mark -Rubenstein ~ This example will bring you all the country songs
